Grand Junction, CO | 2019
The Grand Junction Downtown Development Authority (DDA) wanted an updated and action-oriented “road map” that it could use to shape the future of greater downtown. The last plan was from 1981 - and a lot had changed since then. Grand Junction is attracting younger families and business investment, including tech. Housing affordability and a walkable downtown are at the forefront of the minds of locals. Downtown has several emerging districts without a strategy to support the unique identities and roles in each area.
Cascadia Partners was part of a multidisciplinary team led by regular partner and Colorado-based nonprofit, Community Builders. Our role was to help the team understand the real estate potential of different submarkets and how to craft development incentives and zoning standards to capitalize on each area's unique strengths. This involved early activation strategies, public-private partnership models, and recommended changes to zoning standards.
In 2020, the Vibrant Together Plan was awarded the Colorado APA Merit Award. The Grand Junction DDA is currently working to implement the plan.
