Missoula Midtown Masterplan

Martin Glastra van Loon led the spatial analysis and design of the Midtown Missoula Masterplan, a transformative framework that unites the community’s vision for its future. The plan responds to the anticipated Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project on Brooks Boulevard, while also addressing broader needs for mobility, housing, parks, and economic development. Through extensive community engagement, Martin ensured that diverse voices were heard, creating a cohesive, forward-thinking plan that was unanimously approved by City Council in 2023.

Key outcomes included:

• A new central community hub, “Midtown Junction”
• A comprehensive bicycle network and park system
• Clear guidelines for land use, development, and connectivity

This Masterplan is now driving revitalization efforts and shaping Midtown's future growth, including a strategic real estate acquisition by the City’s Redevelopment Agency. The project’s success lies in its ability to balance ambitious urban design with the unique character and aspirations of the community.
