CFEC Walkable Design Standards Guidebook & Model Code

State of Oregon | 2024

Oregon has long been a pioneer in land use planning, and the state’s new Climate Friendly and Equitable Communities (CFEC) planning program continues that ambitious legacy. CFEC requires many new approaches to planning, including mandating local zoning codes for the state’s most populous cities be changed to support walkable design in all future development.

Cascadia Partners was hired to write the state’s Walkable Design Guidebook & Model Code Standards. This highly graphical and practical resource will help communities across Oregon (and beyond) evaluate their zoning codes, identify modifications, and adopt revisions that reshape development patterns for generations to come.
